The Distinguished Alumni Dinner Series is designed to give Ross alumni in the Los Angeles area the opportunity to meet with a distinguished local alum in an intimate setting over dinner. The only cost for attendees is the cost of the food and drinks they order. Attendance will be strictly limited to 15 participants, on a first-come, first-served basis. Amir Dan Rubin currently serves as Chief Operating Officer (COO) for the UCLA Hospital System, an integrated academic medical center committed to leading edge research, teaching, and patient care. UCLA delivers the latest in clinical discoveries to the patient’s bedside, with leading edge services in the fields of neurosciences, transplantation, cardiac care, cancer, orthopedics, children’s services, imaging, and many other fields. U.S. News & World Report has ranked UCLA as the number one hospital in the western United States for seventeen consecutive years, and has ranked UCLA number three among all the nation’s hospitals.
The1,076-bed UCLA Hospital System consists of the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, the Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital at UCLA, Mattel Children's Hospital at UCLA, Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center and Orthopedic Hospital, and an array of outpatient facilities. With an annual operating budget of $1.3 Billion and with 8,000 employees, UCLA recently opened its new state-of-the-art campus in Westwood and is rebuilding its campus in Santa Monica, CA.
Prior to UCLA, Amir served as Chief Operating Officer for Stony Brook University Hospital, a 504-bed, comprehensive academic medical center on Long Island, New York. Prior to Stony Brook, Amir served as Assistant Vice President of Operations for Memorial Hermann Hospital, an 818-bed, level-1 trauma center in Houston Texas, which serves as the academic medical center for University of Texas, Houston Medical School. Prior to this role, Amir served as Director of Business Development for the corporate parent of the 12-hospital, Memorial Hermann Healthcare System. Amir also previously worked with APM Management Consultants / CSC Healthcare in San Francisco, CA.
Amir earned a Master’s degree from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, a Master’s degree in Health Services Administration from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley.
